This past year has been a really good one. A lot of good things happened and few bad. Here is a breakdown of the past year:
In January:
- We had a HUGE snowstorm!! We rarely get snow here so this was exciting for all of us. During our outing I lost my old trusty Canon A80. When the snow melted we found it laying in the back yard near the lake. It had dried out. We were still able to turn it on and use it. Canon is awesome! I later gave the camera to Chris’s Mom because hers died.
- We went on a vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC during the off season. We learned that is the best time to go for us even though swimming outdoors in a pool or the ocean is not a great idea. Staying at Captain Quarters was really great at around $80 a night (summer rates are around $250 a night!).
- While at the beach I bought my Canon Rebel T1i. The first thing I shot with it was photos of the ocean and the sunset.
In March:
- Brandon went on a trip to Miami, FL. leaving us all for almost a week. We missed him a lot but he loved his trip!
- The next week my Aunt B had a stroke so I went with my sister and Uncle R to Jacksonville, GA to visit her. Only stayed one night.
In April:
- We decided that the house we were living in was too small and the yard was too big (5 acres!), so we started looking for a new home. The first home we looked at was great! A great price, a great location, and a great yard size (1 acre!). So, we put in an offer and it was accepted.
In May:
- I got sick with yet another gallstone attack and went to ER. They sent me home with pain medications and urged me to see a doctor to talk about surgery. Which I did within a week. Surgery was set for June 10th.
In June:
- Shot my first Wedding professionally (3rd one in all). It was fun! My sister was second shooter and help out a lot! It was a really small, country wedding on a lake.
- Our closing date was set for the 10th, a month early. Due to moving I rescheduled my surgery for July 11th.
- We moved into our new home fully by the 15th or so. We spent the next month decorating and unpacking.
In July:
- I had my gallbladder removed on July 11th. This is a surgery that I held off on getting for around five years or so because I was scared of being put under. Turned out not to be that bad!
- I spent the rest of July recovering. It took me three weeks til I was able to feel no pain.
- Lost 15lbs because I was scared to eat anything other than salad and grilled chicken. Then I gained it back plus more when I got over that fear. I think I need that mindset back!
In August:
- Kids started school on the 17th. Landun in first grand and Mikayla in the forth.
- Signed Mikayla up for her second year of little league cheer leading.
In September:
- Turned 30 on the 15th.
- Went to lots of little league football games.
In October:
- Went to lots of little league football games.
In November:
- The team that Mikayla cheered for won the championship. They were also undefeated.
- Saw Taylor Swift in concert. It was awesome but the weather wasn’t. Also, a tornado hit my area for first time in decades, killing three.
And thats the highlights of my year.

Christmas morning started wayyyy early around 6:30am. We didn’t intend on being up til 7am. We woke up to Brandons mom ringing the doorbell and the dog barking. She wanted to come over and see the kids get their presents. She was told not to come over til after 7am but was too excited to wait.
We got the kids up not too long after. When Mikayla walked into the living room she was all happy and shocked to see a dollhouse. Landun’s walked in after her and his first words were “I wish I could see!” I love seeing those first reactions on a Christmas morning!
